Saginaw Power Steering Pump Upgrade Kit For Ford F-250/F-350 7.3 1999-2003 Models
The 1999-2003 Ford F-250/F-350 with the 7.3 motor is a great workhorse. Unfortunately, the power steering system can only handle street and light off road usage. When you use it as a tow vehicle and need to do extended periods of low speed steering (backing a trailer), or modify it to larger tires, the OEM pump falls short and will often fail.
Our Power Steering Pump Upgrade Kit replaces the stock Ford steering pump with our High-Performance Saginaw N-pump that has been modified with a ported housing, chromoly shaft, needle, and thrust bearings. This is the same pump that many of our off-road race teams are using to win the Baja 1000!
This kit also includes:
- CNC'd pump adaptor bracket that will bolt to the OEM bracket
- proprietary design 3.5” x 10” reservoir
- pressure hose
- return hose
- all necessary mounting hardware
Our reservoir uses a unique design to keep steering fluid perfectly still. This results in zero cavitation and reduces air in the system – which keeps operating temperatures lower, resulting in longer pump life. Our pressurized reservoir also keeps oil in and dirt out.
We do recommend adding our 6GPM in-line filter when doing the install to even better protect your system. If adding a filter, choose barbed fittings for easy installation. View Filter
If your vehicle has tires 37" or larger, we recommend using hydraulic ram assist. When adding a ram your pump will need higher flow. We offer this pump with a larger liner and billet end cap to handle the extra flow requirements for the ram. +$150
When using this pump kit, you MUST use the radiator hose that routes "through the serpentine belt". This is the more common hose, but some vehicles came equipped with the "around the belt" hose. If you need to change the hose, the Gates part # is: GAP22542.
It is HIGHLY recommended to use our specialty formulated Lee Power Steering Fluid.
AC Delco or Valvoline non synthetic power steering fluid will work as a second choice but do not have the same Wear and Anti-Foaming additives our fluid has.
DO NOT USE ATF OR ANY TYPE OF SYNTHETIC FLUID.
I have a 2001 F250 7.3l. I have been having trouble turning while backing up. I ordered the mod kit along with the Blue Top steering box. What a perfect fit no more problems. The mod kit was easy to install and I got it to fit next to my S&B cold air intake. I highly recommend this mod kit, it is a little pricey but well worth it.
Awesome unit, works extremely well. Feels like im driving a car. I dont have a lift yet or aftermarket wheels and tires but my truck is chipped and tuned and it handles great now
The Lee/Saginaw N conversion was perfectly engineered and no more flawless selection of parts and materials could be possible, it was just right on at every step, instructions were exacting and super accurate, absolutely Top Shelf upgrade kit, anyone owning a diesel Super Duty or Excursion would be insane not to take advantage of this upgrade, super quiet operation, superlative power delivery to BOTH the hydroboost brake assist and steering assist at the same time, and braking has never felt this strong and smooth. Not cheap, but positively worth every penny, unfortunately the OEM hydraulic system the factory provides, IS cheap.
Very happy with the system. Leaps and bounds above the OEM system. I would say to anyone who owns a Excursion buy this system now.
