2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Power Steering Pump Kit Instructions

This kit is for vehicles with the power steering fluid reservoir behind the battery. If your vehicle has a reservoir mounted in front of the battery, you will not use the triangle mount bracket.

  1. Remove the existing power steering pump, pressure hose, and reservoir.
  2. Install the Lee pump, clock inlet fitting as needed, and re-tighten the jamb nut.
  3. VERIFY PULLEY ALIGNMENT! We have installed the pulley in what should be the correct location, but it is essential to verify that the pulley alignment is correct. If needed, the pulley can be slightly over- or under-pressed to get proper alignment. If the pulley alignment is incorrect, the pump will wear prematurely and the warranty will be voided.
  4. Mount reservoir as shown in the photo below.

NOTE: If your vehicle has the OEM power steering reservoir in front of the battery, you will not use the "ALUMINUM ADAPTOR PLATE" from parts group #2. It is the flat triangle-shaped plate. Instead, you will remove your existing reservoir and will have to drill holes to mount the "BILLET RESERVOIR MOUNT CLAMP."
  5. Build a feed hose using one 45-degree and one straight -12 hose end. Make the hose as short as possible, cutting if necessary. Use the hose clamps provided.
  6. On the reservoir, the top fitting is for the hydro-boost return line, and the middle fitting is for the gearbox return line. Use the 90-degree hose ends for both. You can use the existing hose, but we have also supplied 3/8” hose if needed.
  7. Install the gold hydro boost fitting (40952) directly into the hydroboost housing. If there is a hard tube coming out of the hydro-boost, remove it and use the fitting supplied.
  8. Install the pressure hose with the 90-degree end at the pump. Most people like to use the 90-degree swivel on the straight end as it goes into the hydro-boost, but some customers prefer not to. You can decide which works best for your installation.
  9. Install the filter. The filter can go anywhere on the low-pressure return line as it routes back from the gearbox to the reservoir. Make sure to pay attention to the direction of the filter. It is marked "IN" and "OUT." (In from the gearbox, out to the reservoir). Use the adel clamp to secure wherever it is convenient. Use the two straight hose ends and clamps provided.
  10. Follow the bleed instructions provided.
