Product Details

The 2003-2007 Ford F-250/F-350/Excursion 6.0L motors came equipped with Ford’s CIII power steering pump which has long been known to be an inferior pump that prematurely fails and cannot handle any upgrades in tire size. For years we have rebuilt these pumps for customers because there were no other options, but the pump internals we had to work with just wouldn’t cut it. We had our steering pump housing made that takes tried and true Saginaw internals.

*******Some vehicles in this year range have the power steering fluid reservoir in front of the battery, and some behind the battery. This kit is for the behind-the-battery placement. If you need the in-front of the battery reservoir placement we can accommodate it, but some fab work is necessary! Call to discuss.*********

Beginning Feb. 2025, this kit will utilize the OEM pressure hose. By using the original hose, we were able to lower the price of our kit and make installation easier.

This kit includes:

  • Lee CIII style pump with pulley. Set @ 1750PSI and 3.25GPM
  • Proprietary design 3.5” x 6” side out reservoir
  • Reservoir mount and adaptor plate
  • 6 GPM in-line filter
  • Return hose and hose ends
  • All necessary mounting hardware

Our reservoir uses a unique design to keep steering fluid perfectly still. This results in zero cavitation and reduces air in the system, which lowers operating temperatures, resulting in longer pump life. Our pressurized reservoir also keeps oil in and dirt out.

FLUID RECOMMENDATION

It is HIGHLY recommended to use our specialty formulated Lee Power Steering Fluid.

AC Delco or Valvoline non-synthetic power steering fluid will work as a second choice but do not have the same Wear and Anti-Foaming additives our fluid has.

DO NOT USE ATF OR ANY TYPE OF SYNTHETIC FLUID.

Frequently Asked Questions

What problem does this pump kit solve?

The factory Ford CIII power steering pump used on 2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Super Duty trucks is known for premature failure, weak steering performance, and difficulty handling larger tires. This kit replaces the factory pump with a high-performance Lee Power Steering pump utilizing proven Saginaw-style internals for improved durability and steering performance.

What vehicles does this kit fit?

This kit is designed for: 2003-2007 Ford F-250/f-350/excursion Super Duty 6.0L Power Stroke.

Will this help if I have larger tires?

Yes. One of the primary reasons customers upgrade is because the factory CIII pump struggles with oversized tires. This kit was designed to provide increased steering performance and reliability for trucks running larger tire sizes.

Is this a direct bolt-in installation?

For most trucks, yes. However, reservoir location matters.
This kit is designed for vehicles with the power steering reservoir mounted behind the battery. Some trucks have the reservoir mounted in front of the battery. If your reservoir is in front of the battery, the kit will still work, however some drilling is necessary to moutn the reservoir.

How do I know if my reservoir is behind the battery?

Open the hood and locate the power steering fluid reservoir. If it sits directly behind the battery, this is the correct kit configuration. If it is mounted in front of the battery, contact us before ordering so we can discuss the correct setup for your truck.

Does this kit use the factory pressure hose?

Yes. Beginning in 2025, this kit was updated to utilize the OEM pressure hose. This simplifies installation and helps reduce overall system cost while maintaining performance.

Can I use this kit with Hydroboost brakes?

Yes. This pump kit is used as the foundation for our complete steering and Hydroboost packages, making it compatible with Hydroboost-equipped applications.

Can I add ram assist later?

Yes. Many customers install this pump kit as the first step toward a complete steering upgrade. It can be paired later with a ram assist steering system and other steering upgrades.

Do I need any special tools for installation?

Basic hand tools are required. Following the provided installation instructions and bleeding procedure is important for proper performance and pump longevity.

What fluid should I use?

Lee Power Steering Fluid is strongly recommended for maximum pump life and reduced foaming.

Acceptable alternatives include:

  • AC Delco non-synthetic power steering fluid
  • Valvoline non-synthetic power steering fluid

Do NOT use:

  • ATF
  • Synthetic power steering fluid

Is bleeding the steering system important?

Absolutely. Proper bleeding removes air from the system, prevents noise, and helps ensure maximum steering performance and pump life. Follow the included bleeding instructions carefully.

What makes this pump different from a parts-store replacement?

Most replacement pumps simply duplicate the factory design. The Lee Power Steering pump kit uses a purpose-built housing with proven Saginaw internals designed to provide greater durability, improved steering feel, and better performance under heavy loads and larger tires.

Does this come with a warranty?

Yes. This product is covered by Lee Power Steering's warranty against manufacturer defects. See our warranty page for complete coverage details.

I'm not sure if this kit is right for my truck. What should I do?

Contact our team before ordering. We can help verify your reservoir location, steering configuration, tire size, and future upgrade plans to make sure you get the correct setup the first time.
