What problem does this kit solve?

This kit replaces the factory internals with proven Saginaw-style internals for substantially improved reliability, steering feel, and hydraulic performance.

Does this kit work with hydroboost brakes?
Yes. This system is fully compatible with the OEM hydroboost braking system and is designed to properly support both steering and braking demands.
What pump pressure and flow is this system set to?
The pump is configured at:
- 1750 PSI
- 3.25 GPM flow rate
This provides significantly improved steering assist compared to the factory setup.
Is this better than a stock replacement pump?
Yes. Unlike most remanufactured stock-style pumps, this system was engineered specifically to address the weaknesses of the OEM CIII pump. Many factory-style replacement pumps still suffer from noise, low assist, cavitation, and short service life under heavy use.

Does this fit trucks with the reservoir in front of the battery?
This standard kit is intended for trucks with the reservoir mounted behind the battery.
If your truck has the reservoir mounted in front of the battery, the kit can still be adapted, but some fabrication work may be required. Customers should contact Lee Power Steering before ordering.
What fluid should I use?
Lee Power Steering Fluid is strongly recommended for maximum pump life and reduced foaming.
Acceptable alternatives include:
- AC Delco non-synthetic power steering fluid
- Valvoline non-synthetic power steering fluid
Do NOT use:
- ATF
- Synthetic power steering fluid
Why does this reservoir design matter?
The included reservoir was specifically engineered to reduce aeration and cavitation by keeping the fluid stable during operation. Lower aeration helps reduce operating temperatures, pump noise, and premature wear.
Does the kit include a filter?
Yes. A 6 GPM inline filter is included to help protect the steering system from contamination and extend component life.
Is pulley alignment important?
Yes — pulley alignment is critical for belt life and pump longevity. Installation instructions recommend verifying alignment before operation. Improper alignment can cause premature pump wear and may void warranty coverage.
Can I install this myself?

Does this kit reduce pump noise?
Yes. One of the major benefits of the upgraded pump and reservoir design is reduced cavitation and whining commonly associated with the factory CIII pump system.
Is this compatible with RAM assist steering?
